As Russian is the main language of the institution, non-Russian-speaking students initially take a one-year Russian course at the Preparatory Department and enroll in the selected major and profession.
Preparatory Department for foreign citizens
During one academic year (October thru July) the Preparatory Department provides courses of Russian language, literature, history, social, and cultural studies. Upon successful completion of the program, students obtain an opportunity to enroll in higher education programs, both at Pyatigorsk State University and at any other higher educational institution of the Russian Federation. The entrance exams are not envisaged.
APPLICATION. The applicants are required to send the filled in APPLICATION form and send it to ums@pgu.ru together with a scan of the passport (a page with personal data) and scanned copy of documents of earlier obtained education. The period for submission is from April 1st thru August 15th.
TUITION. The tuition fee of 120,000 Rubles has been fixed for academic year 2025-2026 plus registration fee of 5,000 Rubles.
VISA INVITATION.Pyatigorsk State University will provide international students with visa invitations issued through the Migration Service. To start the process, the filled-in Application form should be sent to the of International Students Office at ums@pgu.ru
It should be done well in advance, as it takes about 30 days to process and issue visa invitation. One page of invitation will be sent by the Migration Service directly to the Russian Consulate in your country, and the second page sent to the applicant via e-mail to show at the Consulate when applying for visa. The student single entry visa is valid for 90 days from the date of its issue. When it expires after your arrival, the University will replace it with a multi-entry visa for the full period of studies.
LODGING. Students of the Preparatory Department are provided with on-campus shared dorm accommodation within walking distance from the university at the cost of 4,300 Rubles paid monthly. Students can use the library, reading and computer rooms, visit the gym and participate in the social and cultural life of the university.
INSURANCE. All incoming international students are recommended to carry internationally valid general insurance. The International Students Office will assist in getting highly recommended local student health insurance for the period of studies to receive free medical assistance at Pyatigorsk medical facilities in case of arising health problems, except for chronic diseases treatment and dentistry.
The average student health insurance cost is 4,000 Russian rubles per term.
We offer
• short-term group program with the intensity of 30 academic hours per week and with the duration of 3 months;
• individual classes with a tailor-cut program based on your personal needs and shaped to mostly match them.
All teaching materials and books, as well as the corresponding certificate upon completion of studies, are provided.
The tuition fee for the 3-month intensive Russian language course for the academic year 2024/2025 is 85,800 rubles. Additionally, applicants pay the registration fee in the amount of 3,500 rubles.
To apply for the program, you don`t need to go through any entry examinations. You need to fill out the APPLICATION and send it to the e-mail address ums@pgu.ru together with a scan of the passport (a page with personal data).
The periods of studies at the intensive Russian language courses within the year are the following:
• September 15th – December 15th;
• January 15th – April 15th;
• May 10th – August 10th.
Students of the intensive Russian language program live in a comfortable student dormitory, which is located on campus within walking distance from the university building. Students can use the library, reading and computer rooms, visit the gym, and participate in the social and cultural life of the university.
